We had a couple beers while enjoying the Hillside pizza, also located inside this area. There is a decent selection of draft beers. We both had an IPA which was very good and went perfect with pizza. The bartender was friendly and attentive. There was a stack of board games available for play which was a nice touch inside the area.

Powder Hollow Brewery is a craft brewery that opened in Enfield, Connecticut in November 2014. It was founded by Michael McManus. He graduated from Vermont Technical College with a degree in construction engineering and soon began working for a large commercial contracting company. Since his teenage years, McManus had dreamed of opening his own company. Home brewing had been a hobby of his since he was 19. Eventually McManus joined forces with head brewer Lance Boylan to open his own brewery. A circa-1929 building in the Hazardville section of Enfield was obtained to house the new brewery and taproom. The property was once home to the Hazard Powder Company. The company (and the neighborhood) were named for Colonel Augustus George Hazard. They were one of the largest producers of gunpowder throughout the 19th century (producing 40% of the Union Army's supply during the Civil War). The company closed down in 1913 after a major gunpowder explosion. McManus named his new brewery "Powder Hollow" as a tribute to the history of Hazardville. A secondary taproom opened in downtown Middletown in November 2019 but closed this past March due to the effects of the pandemic. Another taproom opened at the Yankee Candle Village in South Deerfield, MA in September 2020 and continues to do well. I first visited Powder Hollow in 2015 when they were still fairly new. I remember really liking the Civil War decor around the taproom. Recently the brewery invited me back to taste some of their newer brews that have debuted in the past year. There have been some changes since my last visit. In 2018, McManus' sister Michele McAuliffe and her husband Mark opened R Dee Winery right next door to the brewery. They removed the wall separating the two businesses so that now it is one larger taproom. During my visit, I was helped out by the brewery's Marketing & Events Manager Kenzie. She was very helpful and discussed the different brews that I would be sampling. Some of the offerings I sampled included their Honey Brown Ale, "Spring Ahead" Pale Ale, "Josie's Pale Ale", New England DIPA, "Lift Your Kilt" (Scottish Ale), New England Citra IPA, "Bayonet Blonde", and West Coast Style IPA. The "Spring Ahead" and the Citra IPA were my two favorites. I purchased some cans of the latter to take home. I would have liked to sample some of the wines at R Dee as well, but they were closed during my visit. Just another reason to come back. I enjoyed my visit to Powder Hollow as well as the history lesson. I look forward to returning!

We advise that you take on a new routine as this is something that we plan on doing in the Summer of 2023. We'll order and pick up from Joanna's Restaurant in Somers Ct this one pizza, the garlic butter, tomato and basil {we are so hooked on it) and head to PHB for their beers. This is only a 3 minute, 1.8 drive. We'll sit outdoors, enjoy the day and know that the 40 minute drive from our home for both the beer and pizza is well worth it .

Great little spot nearby that I like to go to everyone in a while. The staff is nice. They have food trucks and events lined up each month. Aside from beer they also have a wine selection as well.

This is a nice little brewery in Enfield. I was there last night, on a Thursday. It wasn't very busy at all, maybe about 10 people total. I liked the variety of beers they offered, my favorites are the sours, I had the Cherry sour and the Raspberry sour, these are just what I like, my favorite is the Raspberry. They offered a variety of board games to play. There was also trivia, which I didn't play, but I noticed it was board game themed. They also have food trucks and a good amount of parking available. This is a nice brewery, with pleasant staff. I'd gladly visit Powder Hollow again.

I came here on a Saturday afternoon to enjoy the nice weather, sit outside and have some wine. The brewery is attached to a winery and in an industrial building, which shares the outdoor seating in the parking lot. The ladies inside were very friendly and offered up some recommendations based on the weather and what was new. The flight was so reasonable for the amount of beer you get, I'd definitely recommend it! Overall good beer, an interesting location but friendly people and a food truck outside.

Location: it's bit far not too bad. It's in Enfield. Parking: plenty which is good and well marked Flights: we tried West coast IPA- not to my taste Tangerine pale ale - not my taste Hop hazard double IPA- not citrusy 1929 porter, lift your kilt - not to my taste Mango milkshake- only one which was little to my taste. We like citrusy IPAs and these weren't but mango milkshake was still okay. We found a Groupon for two flights and a free pint glass for $14.5 and Groupon had some more savings coupons so we were elated to try all on their board for $10.
